The Paralegal Certificate Program

A Proven Pathway into the Legal Profession

The Paralegal Certificate Program is a comprehensive, career-focused training designed to prepare motivated individuals for in-demand roles within today’s legal industry. This self-paced, fully online program is offered once per year and must be completed within six months, from July through December. The program is a long-standing initiative of the New American Chamber of Commerce and has been successfully delivered for over 15 years, producing high-value outcomes and exceptional results for graduates across New York City and beyond. Paralegals play a critical role in the legal system—supporting attorneys, managing case files, conducting legal research, drafting documents, and ensuring that legal proceedings operate efficiently and ethically. This program provides practical, job-ready skills, real-world exposure, and professional guidance aligned with the needs of law firms, government offices, nonprofits, and corporate legal environments.

The Legacy Behind the Program

The Paralegal Certificate Program is the brainchild of our founder, the late Brian Figeroux, Esq., a visionary attorney, mentor, and community leader who believed deeply in access, opportunity, and economic empowerment through education. He recognized long before it became widely discussed that the legal profession—while essential and consistently in demand—often remained inaccessible to talented individuals who lacked traditional pathways, financial resources, or insider connections.

Mr. Figeroux believed that ability should never be overshadowed by circumstance. His mission was to create a practical, dignified pathway into the legal field—one that emphasized real skills, professional discipline, and meaningful employment outcomes. He saw the paralegal profession as a powerful entry point: a role that offers stability, growth, and exposure to the justice system, while allowing individuals to build sustainable careers, support their families, and contribute to their communities.

This program was intentionally designed to be rigorous yet accessible, combining structured learning with real-world relevance. It reflects Mr. Figeroux’s belief that education should lead to opportunity—not just certificates, but careers. Many graduates have gone on to become paralegals in respected law firms, serve in public service roles, launch their own businesses, or even pursue law school and become attorneys themselves.

That vision continues today. The Paralegal Certificate Program remains rooted in the principles Mr. Figeroux championed—opportunity, accountability, discipline, and real-world preparation—ensuring that each new cohort benefits from a legacy built on purpose, impact, and lasting relevance in a field that is always in demand.

Why This Paralegal Certificate Program Delivers Exceptional Value

The Paralegal Certificate Program is an established workforce development program with more than 15 years of proven success, preparing individuals for meaningful entry into the legal profession. As a program of the New American Chamber of Commerce, it reflects the Chamber’s long-standing commitment to professional development, economic mobility, and access to career pathways in high-demand fields.

Designed for today’s learners and today’s legal workplace, the program is 100% online and self-paced, with a clearly defined six-month completion window from July through December. This structured format allows participants to balance education with work and family responsibilities while maintaining accountability and momentum.

Participants benefit from monthly presentations by practicing attorneys across a wide range of practice areas, gaining direct exposure to real-world legal environments, current issues, and professional expectations. In addition, recommended books and curated supplemental reading lists are provided to encourage deeper learning, critical thinking, and ongoing professional development beyond the core curriculum.

The program’s career-focused curriculum is intentionally aligned with real legal workplace expectations—emphasizing practical skills, ethical standards, and professional readiness rather than academic theory alone. Offered once per year, the program maintains quality, focus, and cohort distinction, ensuring a meaningful and guided learning experience.

This is a non-accredited certificate program, designed as a workforce development and career-entry pathway, not a substitute for law school.

However, its structure, legacy, and outcomes make it a powerful launching point for individuals seeking to build viable, respected, and long-term legal careers.
